Aunt Lucy's Wedding Weekend Extravaganza
Just a quick note to say that we are home from our long weekend extravaganza in Chicago, where we celebrated Aunt Lucy's marriage to new-Uncle Dan. We had a great time, especially Libby, who adored 4 days of devoted attention from numerous family members. She made her debut as flower girl and I have to say, she was stellar. I'll have footage of her first walk down the aisle hopefully in a few days. In the meantime, I'm posting photos little by little. I have a few of them below but there are more to come... it's late and I'm calling it a night but wanted to let you get a glimpse of what we were up to this past weekend -- and for those of you family members at the wedding as well, you can get a glimpse of how fabulous you all were looking day after day.
enjoy!

Weekend Getaway
We spent the weekend in Kearney, meeting Grandma and Granddad in Aunt Brett and Uncle Mason's neighborhood. Libby was so excited and had such a great time with her family. She talks about them all the time (often calling them on one of her several phones) and was delighted to see each of them. When we first arrived in Kearney we went to a park to wait for Grandma and Granddad to get there, and Aunt Brett to become available. We had a lot of fun on the playground, running off to the water's edge, and walking through a gated garden.

sorry, someone kinda cut daddy off... (and barnabas)
In between our time at the park and at the hotel, we played at Aunt Brett's, did some shopping for Libby's little brother, and went out to dinner. Libby did lots of entertaining, delighting the family with her energy and her vocabulary and her personality. One comment that stands out in my mind regards Libby's Uncle Mason. She talks about him frequently, mentioning him any time she sees a Jeep. "Mom! A Jeep like Uncle Masie's car." She also brought him up the other night as we read about Daniel in the Old Testament. Libby looked at her toddler Bible and asked, "where's Daniel?" She was confused, thinking the story was about Uncle Daniel, and the picture didn't look much like him. Daddy pointed and said, "here's Daniel." Libby replied, "Where's Uncle Masie?"
Well anyway, Aunt Brett has 2 doggies, one of which is named Macey. Libby doesn't spend much time with them, and tends to forget about them. While playing at Brett's, the doggies (Macey, Mader and Barnabas) were kenneled up back in the bedrooms. Macey began to bark and Brett shouted at her, "Quiet Macey!" Libby looked at us in disbelief. "That not Masie! That Ba-ba-bas maybe, but that not Masie." She thought Brett was accusing Uncle Mason of barking in the back bedroom. It was very amusing and sweet; she knew Uncle Mason better than that!
Eating Out
It's been so beautiful the past couple of weeks that Libby and mama enjoy lunch outside on the deck most days... and some dinners. We decided to take some pics to commemorate our new tradition. Most impressive is the pic with the two of us, Libby has learned to smile not only for photos taken by mama and others, but even for those taken by the camera's timer. What a gal!

Campin' In
Here you see Libby in her new travel bed, the tent. We had some concern as to whether she would feel claustrophobic in the tent, but showed it to her before we ordered it and she was already excited. There was no disappointment when we took it out of the box, Libby was anxious to climb right in, and slept several nights and naps in the tent the week before we took it to Kearney for it's on-the-road debut. Grandma got some pics of Libby in the tent last weekend, she'll be sending them to me soon and you'll get a chance to enjoy. It really is a fun little bed!

Singing in the Rain

Well it was a beautiful summer evening when the light rain began. We were in the den watching the rain fall and discussing God's creation and his use of rain, and Libby opened the patio door. My instinct was to say, "no, let's close the door" but thankfully I realized there wasn't much harm in having the door opened, and Libby's curiosity was helping her learn... a moment later she stepped out into the rain, and I asked that she come back in. Then, I had a second realization - why come in? So, at Libby's request, daddy and mama joined her to explore and dance in the rain. How sweet to watch her really experience the rainfall on her face for the first time, and catch the drops in her little hands.
